Enable or Disable ActiveX Filtering In IE9

IE9 Release Candidate version was launched few days back. IE9 is coming with a new feature known as ActiveX Filtering which helps in blocking and preventing ActiveX controls which are automatically executed on certain web pages. Web developers use ActiveX to create contents which are used to display interactive animations, video playback, stock quotes, play music and to view files. So ActiveX control is overall a good feature but it also bad as it poses a security threat. Malicious websites usually hack through ActiveX control feature.

Enable or Disable ActiveX Filtering In IE9

IE9 features ActiveX Filtering to protect the users from potential risks generated by malicious websites. But there are trusted sites which use ActiveX control for delivering their services. So we must know for which website ActiveX Filtering enabled or disabled. For this we have to learn how to disable or enable (turn off or on) ActiveX Filtering in IE9. It is pretty simple and can be learnt in few steps. Just follow the steps and you will easily understand how to disable or enable (turn off or on) ActiveX Filtering.

  • Open IE9 and click the Gear icon on the top right corner or address bar.
  • Select Safety and click on ActiveX Filtering so that the option gets selected and the tick in front of it disappears/appears.

Alternate Method: In the menu bar, click on Tools and then deselect ActiveX Filtering.

  • To enable ActiveX Filtering go through the process again and enable it so that ActiveX Controls for all sites will be blocked.

So this is how you can easily enable or disable ActiveX Filtering in IE9.

I’ve removed the ticks both ways and I STILL get a warning and ‘allow’ box at the bottom of my IE9 screen. How do make it so I get no blocks or notices?
