Especially the integration of advanced search within email is one feature which attracts most. You can find anything with its advanced search feature.
One thing came in our mind few days back, that how could anyone find long lost attachments with the help of search. Well recently Gmail blog explained that how you can do this.
If you are looking for an attachment which you either sent or received long time back and you have totally forgotten where it is then Gmail’s advanced search can help you in finding it. All you need to do it just type “has:attachment fileextension” and hit enter. You will get results accordingly with the desired file attachments.
For example:
- If you wish to find messages which have attachments then type-
has:attachment
- If you wish to find messages from a specific friend which contain attachments then type-
from:friend name has:attachment
- To find messages that contain .pdf attachments, type-
has:attachment pdf
- If you are looking for a specific attachment say xyz.txt then type-
filename:xyz.txt
By this method you can find your Gmail attachments. You will find that this method will give you accurate results and it’s a better method I guess, rather than spending hours in looking for attachments by checking every other mail.
