Firefox 4 Tips Part 1 : Change Number of Site Suggestions Shown In Smart Bar

Firefox 4 is already out and people have started putting their geeky efforts to reveal the related tips. We also tried and here is the result. There have been many Firefox tips related to about:config. We tried to apply same effort on this version of Firefox. But before going into the details of these tips we would first explain that how these tips could be used.

All you need to do is to type about:config in the address bar (smart location bar). You will get a warning page mentioning “This might void your Warranty”. Click on the button saying “I’ll be careful, I promise!” to continue editing the configuration settings of Firefox.

Firefox 4 Tips: About:config Tips

Here is a simple trick with the help of which you can change the the number of site suggestion shown in your Smart bar. You need to do the following steps:

  • Type about:config in the smart location bar and get into the configuration page.

  • Look for the Config name: browser.urlbar.maxRichResults

  • Right click the value and click Modify to change the set value. (The default value of this config is 12 which means 12 suggestions. )

  • Change the value according to your choice.
