Do you install themes on your Google Chrome? Many people do it. Up till now the only option available for Chrome users was to install regular themes in their browser whereas Firefox users can use Personas aka Background themes but also full theme from the official theme repository. For Chrome users, Google have created an extension named My Chrome Theme with which you can design your own custom skin for Google Chrome.
My Chrome Theme – Create Custom Theme for Google Chrome
Long-time back we posted a write up for creating custom theme for Chrome. In that method users could create custom themes through a website. The same feature will be available directly from the browser this time. To create Custom theme for chrome, you just need to go through 3 steps:
Step 1: Import your image
You can select a photo or image form your computer or even use connected webcam to create an image required for this step. After uploading the image, you can also adjust its placement. Once done press next to continue with the process.
Step 2: Add some color
This step lets you to change colors for four areas of the browser.
- The New Tab Color
- The Background Tab Color
- The Frame Color
- The Background Color
Step 3: Install and Share
In this last step you need to give a name to the theme you just created. Besides giving name, you can add a description as well. Once you done a new page will open with an install button. This will install theme locally and will provide a share url in case you wish to share the theme.
Creating themes with My Chrome Theme is really easy. Just remember that background images would be only visible in the new tab page. Chrome users can try My Chrome Theme from the official Chrome web store.
To delete created themes, you just need to click on the My Chrome Theme icon in a new tab. You will find all the themes listed here. Hover your mouse over any single theme and then select the delete button to remove it from your Chrome browser.
