Ajay asks: I have a corrupt compressed archive which has got some important files of my office. Is there any way to recover some of the undamaged files?
Tech Mag Reply: There is no direct method by which you can determine which particular files are corrupt or undamaged. This makes the recovery of undamaged files really hard. But there is one solution for this problem. A portable application named Zip2Fix can extract undamaged files from a corrupt zip archive.
Zip2Fix quickly scans & processes a corrupt compressed archive and then creates a separate zip folder where you will get all your undamaged files. Zip2Fix can be used for ZIP and SFX zip files to recover the undamaged files.
How to use Zip2Fix?
To extract undamaged files from a corrupt zip archive, follow these steps:
- Open Zip2Fix.
- Click on “open” present on the top left corner to select your damaged zip archive.
- Once you select the damaged archive, Zip2Fix will process it and will create a separate zip folder from where you can access your undamaged files. The new folder will have “ZFX’ added in its name.
- You can find the ZFX folder at the same location from where you selected your damaged/corrupted archive. Extract the new zip archive to access your undamaged files.
This is how you can use Zip2Fix to recover undamaged files from a corrupted zip archive. Zip2Fix is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
