
YouTube now supports HTML5. It’s a big move from YouTube as HTML5 is making the future for all web related apps. According to YouTube, they will be providing a new video player supporting HTML5 accessible from TestTube idea incubator.
Google took this step of introduction of HTML5 compatible player after stating that it was #1 request from its user base. HTML5 is undoubtedly the future as it supports many features like audio, video, canvas drawing, APIs, etc.
One of the major advantages of HTML5 is that it supports video embeds which means if your browser is HTML5 compatible then you don’t need to get any kind of plugin to watch videos. Right now the browsers which support HTML5 are Chrome, Safari and Microsoft Internet Explorer with Chrome Frame.
Few of the restrictions which users might face are that right now this new HTML5 compatible YouTube player will not support videos with ads (you can play them in Flash player), no full screen support and if other testtube experiments are opted then you may not be able to enjoy features of HTML5 player. Only Feather is supported along with HTML5 player.
